Allen Gene Cote Reading Room Dedication
October 17th, 2008 · No Comments
A little over a year ago I was contacted by Jonathan Cote regarding a bequest his Uncle had made to the Manchester City Library. From the library’s archives I was able to discover that Mr. Cote had an attachment to our West Branch by being a member of our Friends group. And from Jonathan I learned about the Cote family’s connection to the Westside of Manchester. I learned of his uncle’s love of books, history, art and music.

The Library Trustees, Staff and myself can never thank Mr. Cote for his bequest but we can help to honor his memory. The funds we have received from his estate have been added to our endowment as the Allen Gene Cote Trust Fund. We are honored to have had his family members help us dedicate our Branch’s periodical room as the Allen Gene Cote Reading Room on Friday, October 10th. It was a pleasure to meet the family members and share memories of a man who truly had a passion for helping others.
