June 25th, 2009 · 1 Comment

On Monday, June 29 at 2:00 the West Manchester Community Library kicks off our Summer Reading Program with a performance by UNH’s traveling theater group, The Little Red Wagon, who will present “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” a lively show specifically designed for young audiences. Fairies, maidens, magic and fools abound in this wonderful introduction to the world’s greatest playwright. Discover why this is still Shakespeare’s most popular comedy.

This performance will take place at the Senior Center next door to the West Manchester Library at 76 North Main St. No registration required.

The Book Sale is coming!

June 23rd, 2009 · 3 Comments

Straight from the Farm

The book sale is coming! It is just two days away. It was announced in the Express (pdf) yesterday on page 10 and I visited several grocery stores on Saturday. We’ll be open from 2:30p to 6:30p, hoping for some good foot traffic by piggy backing on the Thursday afternoon Farmer’s Market.

For $5.00 people will receive a paper grocery bag at the entrance of the Winchell Room. Each additional bag can be bought for $5.00 per. If there are any questions about the sale or donations, please page or forward them to me. My voicemail is 624-6550 x610 and my e-mail address which is ereddy@manchesternh.gov.

And Summertime means Family Fare!

June 18th, 2009 · No Comments

Day 203 and Mr. Phil... Our Mary has been working hard all winter bringing together some really neat stuff for our summertime family entertainment series. If you’ve never come before, it happens on Thursday evenings in the Victory Park, across the street from the Library. We took some super photos last year and this year sounds just as photo-worthy:

Programs start at 6pm in the park. If it’s rainy (*sad*) things move to the Library Auditorium. Hope to see you there.

Fun With Flickr!

June 17th, 2009 · No Comments

Cloudy Day...

Sharing photos has been a popular activity since the invention of the camera. Almost everyone has poured over family photos at reunions, holidays and special occasions—flipping through stacks of photos and reminiscing and sharing memories. Flickr can help you share photos with more people and gives you control over who sees your photos at any time and any place on the planet. You don’t have to wait for the next family reunion to see photos of distant relatives or friends—you can see and share them as soon as you make them available on Flickr. Do you have pictures on your camera or cell phone that you want to keep?   Let us help you and have some fun learning to use Flickr–which is one of the tools what we’ve been using here at the library to store, collect and utilize  pictures.  “Fun With Flickr” is one on one help and instruction on how to use Flickr to upload, edit and share your photos. For more information or to sign up please call the Manchester City Library at 624-6550 and speak with Yvonne.
