The United States Mint is presently minting the America the Beautiful Quarters series. The first quarter of the series came out in 2010. Five new designs are released each year. The designs, on the reverse side of the quarter, depict national parks and national sites in America. There will be one design for each state; also the District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, U.S. Virgin Islands and Northern Mariana Islands.
The first new quarter for 2013 (the 16th coin of the series) will feature the White Mountain National Forest. The scene on the reverse of the quarter will depict Mt. Chocorua, which is framed by birch trees. The coin will probably be released at the end of January. The other quarters that will be released this year are:
Ohio– Perry’s Victory & International Peace Memorial
Nevada–Great Basin National Park
South Dakota–Mount Rushmore National Memorial
