It’s been a busy summer down in the children’s room. We had 195 kids participate in our summer reading program, and they read a total of 1,326 books. If you stacked all of them up, the pile would be 32 feet high! Luckily, we had 20 volunteers to help us out this summer. Our programs were well attended, including the music programs with Karina Bertrand, Ms. Beverly’s crafts, Ms. Karyn’s preschool parties, educational programs from Amoskeag Fishways and the UNH Marine Docents, and the Majestic Theater’s performance of Big Bad Musical. And in case you’re still wondering, there were 197 shells in the jar at the circulation desk.
Upstairs, 50 teens proved that library is not just a place to study. This lively group read 123 books, rocked out to Guitar Hero, danced their hearts out with Dance Dance Revolution, discussed their favorite Anime and Manga and enjoyed a weekly craft.
We’d like to thank McDonald’s, Ben & Jerry’s, and Papa John’s for sponsoring prizes for our reading program participants.
