Banned Books Week
This week we are  recognizing Banned Books Week by displaying some of the books that have been censored over the years.  Some of them are surprising, like the dictionary, and some are not so surprising, like the Bible.  What might prove to be offensive to one person may not be offensive to you or me.

The freedom to read is essential to our democracy. It is continuously under attack and if you want to continue to retain your freedoms, they must be defended.  This might be just my personal opinion: but to me the freedom to chose what I read is inherent in my pursuit of happiness granted to me by the Constitution of the United States.

So join me and celebrate the freedom to read by reading a banned book.  We have a list of banned books at the reference desk and we can let you know why someone tried to ban your book, where in the country and when.

See you at the library!
