Saying Good-bye

December 2nd, 2015 · No Comments · Books, City Library, Main Branch

paulaThe Manchester City Library said good-bye to one of its own recently. On November 24, Paula Balboni lost her battle with cancer. Paula had retired from the library staff last December, after working for five years in our Circulation division.   Her devotion to family and friends, her dedication to a job well done, her sense of fair play, her ability to look for the good in everything and everyone, her sense of humor – this was Paula to the end. Whether it was dressing up as Bob the Builder for Halloween, or cracking jokes from her hospital bed, she could always make us smile.

An avid outdoors person who loved to travel, Paula was excited to be going to Yellowstone a few years back. It was going to be one of those “trip of a lifetime” experiences. Trouble is, that was the year that the federal government shut down and by the time she got to Yellowstone, all the national parks were closed. But Paula, being Paula, made the best of it and still had the time of her life.

And that is how we choose to remember Paula – with her can-do attitude, her generous nature, her kindness towards all. We offer our deepest condolences to the entire Balboni family in their time of grief.
