The NH Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) presents ‘Hiking in NH,’ targeted at beginner to intermediate hikers who want to enjoy the mountains of our beautiful state, and also want to be safe in their activities. Through discussion and example, topics will include: trip planning, assessing one’s abilities, essential items for your backpack, safety issues, footwear, clothing, hydration, and suggestions for hikes at various levels. Presenters are Sam (Ruth) Jamke and Ron Janowitz. Sam, a Bedford resident, is the former Chair of the NH Chapter of AMC. She has hiked extensively throughout NH, in other states and just completed a major trek in new Zealand. She has led hikes for many years and instructed at numerous hiking workshops. Ron, a Manchester resident is the Program Chair for AMC. He has led hikes throughout NH, and has climbed many of the higher peaks in other states.
