I was flipping around the internet today preparing for tomorrow’s class and came across the surprisingly excellent FBI website. They’re commemorating their 100th anniversary by featuring different high-profile cases. This month it’s Bonnie and Clyde:
She was just shy of five feet tall, all of 90 pounds, a part-time waitress and amateur poet from a poor Dallas home who was bored with life and wanted something more.
He was a fast-talking, small-time thief from a similarly destitute Dallas family who hated poverty and wanted to make a name for himself.
Together, they became the most notorious crime couple in American history—Bonnie and Clyde.
I’ve always been fascinated by their story so I got to wondering what kind of cool stuff the library might have about them. Everyone should see the excellent movie starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway - it’s a classic. But there’s also, The Family Story of Bonnie and Clyde, The Strange History of Bonnie and Clyde, and Bonnie and Clyde: a 21st Century Update… might provide a nice springtime transition into beach reading. Let me know how they are!
