Hello everyone! This is your roving reference librarian coming to you from the reference desk. Now I consider getting information to “my public” to be my main job responsibility and so I think that a natural extension to this is to share this information electronically, too. So every week I hope to share with you a research tool that we, here at the Manchester City Library, like to use to help us answer questions.

The first research tool I’d like to mention is “The CQ Researcher“. The “CQ” is a weekly publication which reports and analyses current topics and issues that are shaping our society today. We like the “CQ” because it provides information from both sides of a given topic and also where to look for more information, if necessary. Examples of topics include: cyberbullying, the Iraq War, oil pricing, and the mortgage crisis. If you have a debate or a current event report that you need to prepare for–then this is the tool for you. You can find the “CQ” in the reference collection at the main library.
