In Memory of John Hallahan

June 17th, 2008 · No Comments

The library staff and Trustees were saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. John Hallahan. As our library director for 25 years between 1966 and 1991 he was a founding member of MILC (Manchester Interlibrary Cooperative) which later became GMILCS, oversaw the creation of the West Branch, and made the Carpenter Memorial Library handicap accessible by overseeing the installation of a modern elevator. Mr. Hallahan helped to make the libraries what they are today by leading the way during his tenure. He was well loved by staff and patrons alike. He will be greatly missed by those of us at the Manchester City Library.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 P.M. and 6-9 P.M. at Goodwin Funeral Home 607 Chestnut Street corner of Harrison Street. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Pius X Catholic Church 575 Candia Road & Sarto Street. Burial with military honors will follow at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH. In lieu ogf flowers memorial contributions may be sent to American Red Cross 1800 Elm Street, Manchester, NH 03104. [Via.]
