The library collection search engine (also known as “the catalog”) is the place to go to find information on the approximately 250,000 items in the MCL collection as well as the hundreds of thousands of other items within the GMILCS consortium. This class will provide an overview of how to use the search engine in the most effective manner possible. Subjects to be covered include how to do a “basic” and “advanced” search, placing “holds” on materials, creating personal lists of materials, using “preloaded” searches, and how to view your account. Although not required, participants should feel free to bring their laptops, tablets, etc, to use during the class. MCL does have a limited number of laptops for use during the class. Registration is not required but is encouraged. This class is being held in the Winchell Room on November 1st at 7:00 PM.
