Introduction to MS Word 2010

Learn the basics of Microsoft Word, the essential skill you need in today’s job market. We will create and save a file, learn basic functions such as copy/paste, tabbing and setting margins and have fun with enhancements (bold, italic, font size, and font color). Come join us for this relaxed, hands-on class.

The class will cover the basic terminology of the Internet, basic navigation tips around the Internet sites and basic searching techniques. There will also be information for creating your own e-mail account, using a web base e-mail system.

Laptops will be provided by the library for the class period.

On May 11th, from 2:30 to 4:00 PM, there will be an introduction class to the basic contents and workings of these two databases. During this class, some other public on-line genealogy databases will be talked about. The class will take place in the Winchell Room at Manchester City Library.

Laptops will be provided during the class to use in the searching the databases.

There are a limited amount of seats available; therefore you must register ahead of time for the class. You may register for the class by using the calendar of events or contacting the Information Desk at 624-6550 ext. 320.

Yay! Spring is here and with it new computer skills for you! Join us for a quick, easy lesson in how to attach a file to your e-mail account. It is preferred that you have an e-mail account before attending this clinic. Since this is the last computer clinic in the series (for now), with time permitting, you’ll have a chance to ask questions about things covered in previous job search clinics! This is your chance to ask questions about searching monster.com, creating a resume, or creating a cover letter! We’ve increased the number of participants for this clinic from four to eight to account for a variety of questions, so come on down! You are the next contestant on The Job Search Clinic is Right! Books from the collection on these subjects will also be available at the clinic for you to check out. See you there!

Two of these databases, Ancestry (library edition) and Heritage Quest are very useful in the search of your family history. On March 8th (Tuesday), from 2:00 to 3:30 PM, there will be a class to introduce you to the basic contents and workings of these two databases. The class will cover basic terminology of the Internet, a basic visual demonstration of the Internet, basic search techniques to use for searching the Internet and a basic introduction to web based e-mail accounts.

There is a limited amount of seats available for this class, therefore you need to register as soon as possible to reserve a seat. Laptops will be provided by the library for the class period. From January through April, we will be presenting job clinics focused on everything from searching Monster.com to attaching a resume to your e-mail. This is a new thing we’re trying, so class size is limited to 4 to provide individualized attention.

You can sign up for any class that fits your needs. Classes don’t need to be taken in succession – mix and match!

Job Search Clinic 1 – Searching Monster.com
Tuesday January 25th – 2pm-3pm Winchell Room

We will focus on searching the Monster.com online job search website. Learn how to narrow down your search to find just the results you want. Learn how to look for clues in job descriptions so that you can create a customized resume that will get a specific employer’s attention! Limit: 4 people.
