Join us Thursday, September 23 at 7 p.m. as Michaels performs selections from his recent album <a href="http://www.cdfreedom.com/artists/codymichaels/catalog/autumnsuite/"><i>Autumn Suite</i></a>.</p>
<p>A former park ranger and farm hand, soloist and composer Cody Michaels’s unique, passionate musical expressions inspire comparisons to the likes of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ludwig_van_Beethoven">Beethoven</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_Jarrett">Keith Jarrett</a>, and <a href="http://www.georgewinston.com/us/home">George Winston</a>.  </p>
<p>Also a storyteller and poet, his exhilarating performances celebrate the wonders of nature, simple living, and the human spirit.  Admission is free. Copies of Michaels&#8217; CDs will be available for sale. The <a href="http://www.me.ngb.army.mil/units/band/">195th Army Band</a>, based in Bangor, Maine, will honor the city with a performance on the library lawn Friday, July 2nd, from noon to 1 p.m. Listen to your favorite marches and brass band selections from one of the finest reserve component bands on the East Coast. In the event of rain, the concert will be held in the library auditorium.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>While we&#8217;ve already hosted a few book discussions already, The Big Read: Southern New Hampshire Reads <em>The Great Gatsby</em> officially starts this week. Here&#8217;s a brief rundown on our upcoming events.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s what we will be doing.</p>
<p>- Wed. 3/25, 1 p.m. Auditorium. Film: 1974 adaptation of the novel <em>The Great Gatsby</em>.</p>
<p>- Thu. 4/2, 7 p.m. Auditorium. A Soundtrack for <em>The Great Gatsby</em>: Music of the Jazz Age with Paul Combs. <a href="http://www.nhhc.org">NH Humanities Council</a> lecture.</p>
<p>- Mon. 4/6, 10 a.m. Winchell Room. Let&#8217;s Dance! Get ready to boogie. Make your own instruments. Refreshments. Ages 2-5. Pre-Registration required.</p>
<p>- Thu. 4/9, 7 p.m. Library Auditorium. Concert: West High School Jazz Combo will perform music from the 1920s and beyond.</p>
<p>- Thu. 4/9, 7 p.m. NH Room. Book Discussion: <em>The Great Gatsby</em>. Part of our regular Thursday book discussion program.</p>
