Hunting for your first job? Maybe a new job? Career Cruising can help.

Hunting for your first job? Maybe a new job? Are you looking to change careers? We can help. The Manchester City Library is pleased to offer Career Cruising, an industry-leading online career guidance and planning system. Simply create a profile, then take one or more of Career Cruising’s assessments to determine your skills, learning style, and careers that best suit your interests. From here, you can research and explore careers based on criteria you specify. Search by industry, education level, salary, or what subjects you excelled at in school. There’s even a section for military careers. Read and listen to interviews from professionals within those careers, and find out what they like, and don’t like, about their jobs, as well as what you can expect during a typical day at work.

Once you’ve chosen a career that interests you, find out which schools offer the training you’ll need. Compare schools, get help planning your application, and learn more about financial aid.

Maybe you’ve already graduated…a long time ago. You’re not looking for a school. You want to write a resume! Career Cruising can help with that as well, working with you to build a resume you can store right online. Once you’ve finished your resume, Career Cruising lets you search for jobs from thousands of company career sites and job boards at once. You’ll find advice on how to write a cover letter and prepare for the interview, as well as how to succeed during those crucial first few days on the job.

No matter where you are in your job search, Career Cruising can help. Try it out next time you visit the library. Or, try it from home using your Manchester City Library card number. Let us know what you think.
