It’s almost snow emergency season in our fair city and we are celebrating the launch of snow emergency alerts via Twitter! If you’re not a Twitter user that may not seem like such a big deal, but the hook for you is that snow emergencies via Twitter can mean snow emergency notifications sent via text message to your cell phone too. Now *that* is something to be psyched about.

If you already have a Twitter account, simply start following them. If you do not have a Twitter account, set one up via the big green Join Today button. (Don’t worry, you don’t have to use the account for anything except getting these alerts.)

Step 2:

Login to your Twitter account.

Click on Settings. Click on Devices. Enter +1 as your country code. (Assuming you are in the US and if you’re not, why do you want to know about our snow emergencies?)

Enter your cell phone number.

Check off “It’s okay for Twitter to send txt messages to my phone. Standard rates apply.”

Click save.

Step 3:

Click the Home link at the top of the screen.

Then click the Following link in the top right.
