Raising your own fruits and vegetables can be a very rewarding and satisfying task. It is also a lot of hard work. Don’t think you have what it takes to learn to put your produce by for the winter months? Of course you can!
Join us this summer to learn how to preserve your harvest and get the most from the fruits of your labor! The Manchester City Library is pleased to offer one of U.N.H. Cooperative Extension’s home food preservation workshops, Preserving Your Harvest. Alice Mullen, field specialist from the U.N.H. Cooperative Extension, will present a program designed to help you preserve fruits and vegetables from your gardens or from your farmer’s markets. We’ll cover the latest research-based methods and recipes, answer questions, and share experiences about these topics:
– an overview of preserving food safely at home
– jams and jellies
– pickling
– canning fruits and vegetables
– freezing and drying food
Join us Thursday evening, August 29th, from 6-8 PM in the Winchell Room of the Main Branch for this interesting and educational program. Registration is required and seating is limited. Call the library at 624-6550 Ext. 320 to register. For more information contact Yvonne Loomis at 624-6550 ext. 319.
See you at the workshop!
