For October, the Brown Bag Book Club will be reading Sandcastle Girls by Chris Bohjalian. This is Mr. Bohjalian’s fifteenth book. Elizabeth Endicott arrives in Aleppo, Syria in 1915 to help deliver food and medical supplies to refugees of the Armenian genocide.  There she meets and later marries Armen.  Decades later, their American granddaughter embarks on a journey through her family’s history and discovers secrets that have been buried for generations. This spellbinding tale travels between Aleppo, Syria, in 1915 and Bronxville, New York, in 2012 and is a sweeping historical love story steeped in the author’s Armenian heritage, making it his most personal novel to date. According to the Boston Globe, the year 2015 will mark the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide, and it is likely that Chris Bohjalian’s newest novel, “The Sandcastle Girls,’’ will represent just the beginning of what will be a steady stream of publications remembering this horror.

Plan to join us at lunchtime on Tuesday, October 29th, from 12:15- 1 PM.  Remember to bring your lunch! For more information contact the Information Desk at 624-6550ext. 319
