Cool Reads for Winter!

December 10th, 2013 · No Comments · Books, City Library, Main Branch, West Branch

Alas, summer is over.  At least that’s what the deep brown leaves at my doorstep are telling me.  Fall is here and winter looms.  Yet, how to ease into these colder months?  Try going to Cool Reads for fall and winter, which now has the sub-categories of Scary Ghost Stories, Winter Fun, and Cozy Reads!  These pre-selected titles quickly get you browsing!

Go to the homepage of the catalog which is here.  Click on the + sign next to “Cool Reads for fall and winter”.

In the Ghost Stories section, you’ll find The man in the picture: a ghost story by Susan Hill and The Book of Illumination: A Novel From the Ghost Files by Mary Winkowski – a story set in Boston.

The Winter Fun section provides titles such as Snow play : how to make forts & slides & winter campfires plus the coolest Loch Ness monster and 23 other brilliant projects in the snow by Birgitta Ralston.  There’s also a book to help with the winter blues called Beyond the Blues : a workbook to help teens overcome depression by Lisa M. Schab.  Winter sports, crafts and cookbooks are covered as well.

Once the sun begins to fade and it’s time to come indoors, try a Cozy Read like The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks or The Best Short Stories of O.Henry or Bookmarked for Death by Lorna Barrett.

There are titles at Cool Reads for Fall and Winter to thrill and entice even the most anti-winter in our reading community.  Embrace the cold.  Enjoy!
