The Manchester City Library Foundation recently purchased a new microfilm reader for the public to use and it is housed at the main library. This was an item on the library’s wish list and was purchased with funds generously donated to the Foundation.

The Foundation received a $15,000 grant from the Cogswell Benevolent Trust to sup- port the purchase of children’s books. This grant will provide books for both the main library and the branch.

As fall winds down the Foundation will be sending out their annual holiday appeal letter to our donors. We thank you for supporting the library! The Foundation can now also accept donations with a credit card through our PayPal account on the library’s website.

And Foundation Board members are pleased to announce that we are hard at work on hosting an author gala next fall at the historic Palace Theater! This is part of the Carpenter Memorial Library’s 100th Birthday Celebration! The guest author will be Dennis Lehane, whose books include Gone, Baby, Gone and Shutter Island.
