On Monday, March 10, 2014, John P. Jordan will give a lecture and book signing at the Manchester City Library auditorium, 405 Pine Street, beginning at 6:30pm. His book is a compilation of newspaper articles entitled “Saints & Sinners: The Pioneer Irish of Manchester, N.H., 1835-1900”. He will tell us about some of Manchester’s nice and naughty Irishmen (and women), their scandals and their accomplishments.
Mr. Jordan is a retired ironworker and historian of the Rev. William J. Shanahan, Division 1, Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was the Grand Marshall of the 2012 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Manchester, has conducted many cemetery walking tours, presented the key to the City of Manchester in 1988 for “preserving Manchester’s history”, and is a member of many historical committees throughout the city.
Books will be available for purchase following the program.
This program is free and open to the public. Handicapped access is available via the library’s Concord Street entrance. For more information, contact Cynthia O’Neil at 603-624-6550 or by email at [email protected].
