The library’s annual Cemetery Scavenger Hunt has been happening for the past 10 years and is a way to bring Manchester’s history alive to a new generation. Many of our attendees to this program often end up asking questions about the city’s past. Did you know that the cemetery was designed as a “garden cemetery” and was designed to be a place where the public can stroll along its walkways? What better way to promote the intent of the cemetery’s Founders than to bring children and families to discover its treasures? Showing off this gem in our inner city is in no way meant to be disrespectful. We want to encourage visits to this beautiful location!
We are expecting rainy weather tomorrow, so we have postponed tomorrow’s (October 22nd) Cemetery Scavenger Hunt at the Valley Cemetery. It has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 29th. If you have any questions please contact the children’s Room at 624-6550 ext. 3328.
