Robots are a big theme in Science-Fiction, but AI’s are a class with this group. Some of the most interesting characters are intelligent robots, whether brought to the story as individual characters or hive-mind collectives. They’re a playground for embodying the best and the worst of human nature: sometimes they’re benevolent, sometimes oppressive. Often, they’re misunderstood, or struggling with the very real crisis of purpose and identity that we all struggle with.
