Watching sports has gradually become an important part of my life over the past few years – something I’ve become more aware of now that all sports seasons have come to a halt. I’d much rather be watching the Bruins win the Stanley Cup right now than stuck at home rewatching old games on NESN, or enjoying the start of the Formula 1 season instead of watching e-races on Twitch. However, the library luckily has many resources to help you get your sports fix while we are all social distancing.
Kanopy has many documentaries and movies on sports, so if you miss hockey, check out Hockey Night or Ice Guardians. If you miss watching the start of baseball season and spring training, check out Diamonds in the Rough or this documentary on Dock Ellis. If you missed March Madness, try watching Gray Seasons or They Might Be Giants. For those of you who miss car racing, try watching The 24 Hour War. Hoopla also offers many interesting titles related to sports, including e-books, audiobooks, movies, TV shows, and comics. To sign up for either service, you just need your library card number and PIN/password. If you need help signing up or have any questions, check out our website or contact us and we’d be happy to help.
There are also quite a few books on athletes and other related topics on Cloud Library and Overdrive/Libby. I have compiled a few of them below, but there are many more:
