COVID-19 Journal Project

April 20th, 2020 · 3 Comments · City Library, Main Branch, National Library Week, West Branch

As we celebrate National Library Week all of us are being impacted by a historic event in our country.  The COVID-19 Pandemic has impacted our lives and libraries have always played a part in documenting what happens in their communities.  The Manchester community documented the 1918 pandemic.  In 1918 The Manchester City Library had to close to play our part in keeping the community safe.  So to do our part now our physical building is closed again but unlike 1918 we have a whole virtual library to provide services from and have a way to connect with all of you.  Like then the library needs to document Manchester history and we need your help to do so.

The Manchester City Library and the Manchester Historic Association have begun a COVID-19 Journal project.  We are inviting the public to keep a journal with their thoughts, feelings and daily happenings as we go through this pandemic together.

I think this is a great idea. I have been keeping track of where I go and whom I see and message. Trying to find a way to make the best of it and looking forward to seeing it end.

    Hi Carol,

We’re glad you’re keeping a record your COVID experiences and hope you’ll participate and share. Having this documented by folks will prove to be interesting for future generations. We wish you the best. Stay healthy and happy. And thanks for the comment.
