Memorial Day

May 22nd, 2020 · No Comments · Books, City Library

Memorial Day is coming up soon. Why not read an inspirational historical (war theme) fiction book? Below is a list of various books of this nature. They can be located on one of ebook platforms. My favorites is a series, Refiner’s Fire series by Lynn Austin. This series focuses on the Civil War. There are three books, with different perspectives, one for the North, the South, and the slave. My favorite book of the series is the second one: Fire by Night. Julia Hoffman is the main character of the book. She becomes a Union nurse after witnessing the first Battle of Bull Run. As my sister, aunts, and cousins are nurses this book resonates with me. As Memorial Day approaches, let us not forget the many people that have made many sacrifices so that we can have freedom.   – Susanna Library Staff
