The Pine Grove Cemetery is Manchester’s only active municipal cemetery. First developed in 1851, the cemetery has grown to be around 275 acres. Many of Manchester’s most prominent citizens were buried at Pine Grove, including the Library’s founder, Frank Pierce Carpenter! You can also find the headstones to George A. Leighton, and 13 of Manchester’s mayors. Check out this recorded walkthrough of the cemetery, conducted by the Manchester Historic Association, and lead by Dick Duckoff and John Jordan.
