The Home Stretch of Our Reopening

August 18th, 2020 · 6 Comments · City Library, Main Branch, News

We are in the home stretch of our reopening plans!  We will be announcing a reopening date and our new hours as soon as we complete the last of our staff training to follow new protocols and procedures.

I know I may sound like I am repeating myself (which I am) but it is very important that we message out to our community what visiting the library will be like when we reopen as we follow the Governor’s Task Force guidelines for libraries:

  • Hours of operation are going to be different with multiple closings each day.
  • Library visitors will be asked to wear a mask in our building and we will gladly provide you with one for your visit.
  • Please don’t visit if you are sick! We promise we’ll be here when you feel better!
  • Please use the hand sanitizer stations as needed around the building!
  • It is very important that our visitors limit your time in the building by coming in for the service you need and then leaving so we can let others in for their turn to access services. We will be counting visitors to stay within our capacity limits.
  • On the main floor there is limited seating.  As much as this pains us at this time we cannot allows folks to linger in the building for long periods of time.
  • Please only visit the library once a day so we can provide access to as many library users as possible.
  • Once you leave the building you won’t be let back in so plan accordingly!
  • Any items you peruse in the library and then decide not to take home should be placed on carts for us to take care of!
  • Social distancing is expected in the building.  Please follow the directional signs that have been provided to assist you.
  • Computer stations must be booked in advance by calling or e-mailing the library.
    • Appointments can be made one day in advance and are limited to one time per day.
  • There will be no charging of personal electronic devices at the library.
  • The library staff will not be handling cash so please bring exact change to use our copiers or vended printing.  Any charges for lost items or old fines can be paid by check or with a credit card online.
  • Access to the NH Room will be by appointment only by calling or e-mailing the library.
    • Only one appointment per day!
  • The second floor will be kept closed for the time being.
  • Materials on Hold to be picked up will be in our lower level hallway so that you can “grab it and go”.
  • The Children’s Room area will have “pods” set up so that groups/families visiting together can have their own spot in the room during your visit.
  • If you are not utilizing the children’s room and don’t need our accessible entranceway, please plan on using the front entrance off of Pine Street to help us with managing the number of our visitors due to limited capacity.
  • All meeting rooms will remain closed to the public.
  • All library programming will continue to be online.

We will see you soon!

Be well,
