National Library Week runs from April 5-9th, and this year’s theme is: Welcome to Your Library
Your library is more than just the beautiful marble building on Pine street, or the repurposed firehouse on the west side. Your library is also more than the Libby app on your phone or tablet, the documentary you watched on Kanopy, or the graphic novel you downloaded through Hoopla.
Your library is the bookmobile, bringing free books to children to promote literacy.
Your library is the call to the curbside pick-up line from the library’s parking lot to get your books and other items.
Your library is the craft you picked up from the curbside pick-up table.
Your library is a call to the information desk to ask what day it is.
Your library is the chat feature on our website to ask a quick question.
Your library is the circulation clerk who pulls items on hold to be picked up through curbside.
Your library is the children’s librarian who holds countless story times, crafts, Lego challenges, and more on Zoom or Facebook.
Your library is the Zoom program on taxes, backyard birds, or New England folklore.
Your library is the podcast on fake news and media bias, and the blog post on nutrition.
Your library is the free wifi, left on even when we were closed to the public, for people to use from their car in the parking lot.
Your library is free access to Ancestry.com, to help you discover your family tree.
Your library is the free tax forms and information on where to get help with taxes.
Your library is the “help me find my next book” form on our website, to help you find your next read.
Your library is the genre displays in the library, changed each month to highlight a new theme or topic.
Your library is the free issue of BookPage, and the many bookmarks given out through curbside.
Your library is the people who come into the building to keep things running behind the scenes.
Your library is all of us, and everything we do to help the community.
