Happy Pi Day

March 14th, 2022 · No Comments · Books, City Library, Events, Main Branch, West Branch

Celebrate Pi day with a pie. In school, math was not one of my favorite subjects. The way I like to think of Pi Day is through yummy pie. According to most Americans, their favorite pie is pumpkin at 36%. From research done by the American Pie Council, “pumpkin pie was first introduced to the holiday table at the pilgrim’s second Thanksgiving in 1623.” Based on Google search data from last March, the favorite fruit pie for the state of New Hampshire is apple. Research collected by Google Trends last March show the most popular pie searched for in New Hampshire was strawberry rhubarb pie. This research showed some interesting results for other states, such as crawfish pie for Louisiana, and possum pie for Arkansas. Some of my personal favorites include chocolate cream pie, shoofly pie, pecan pie, and apple. But, I could go on, there are too many different types of pies, and I didn’t even mention savory pies. What is your favorite pie? Come to the library, check out the display for Pi Day. If you are like me, you will celebrate Pi Day with a real pie. Happy baking!
