Sci-Fi and Fantasy has always been a place where members of the queer community could freely imagine societies that are different from the one in which we live. In the unlimited scope of our imagination, we can examine gender, sexual bias, and reconsider heteronormative cultural assumptions. Sometimes this becomes a central theme of the story, and sometimes the characters themselves model a normality that we can only hope will one day be the status quo.
