National Egg Day: June 3

June 3rd, 2022 · No Comments · Books, City Library, Main Branch, West Branch

Which came first: the chicken or the egg? I don’t know, but today we are celebrating the egg. June 3rd is National Egg Day. There are many interesting fun facts about eggs. Dr. Seuss was not off the mark, when he wrote his book Green Eggs and Ham. The breed of the chicken determines the color of the egg shells. Eggshells come in a variety of colors from shades of brown, white, blue, pink, and green. Most Americans prefer their eggs scrambled, then over easy, then sunny side up, then over medium finally followed by hard boiled. People in New Hampshire like their egg in an omelet form. How do you prefer your egg cooked? At the library, there are a variety of books on how to cook eggs, and books with interesting egg titles. Come to the library and check out the display. I hope you have an eggcellent day!
