EBSCO research tools to be discontinued June 30th, 2022

June 7th, 2022 · No Comments · City Library, Library Databases, Main Branch, News, NH Room, Research Tip of the Week, West Branch

Attention researchers! If you’re used to searching EBSCO’s Explora, Business Source Premier, or Consumer Health Complete, we have some sad news. Starting in July the library will no longer provide access to any of these EBSCO search or research tools, either in-house or remotely. They just don’t get enough use for us to justify their rising costs. We explored resources from several other vendors, but ultimately decided not to renew or subscribe to anything different for the time being.

We will continue to provide access to the business and marketing tool AtoZdatabases, genealogy resources like Ancestry Library Edition and Heritage Quest, language learning through Transparent Language, crafting classes through Creativebug, and Union Leader archives through NewsBank. You can also use NewsBank to search 44 of America’s news sources or browse suggested topics like business and economics, the environment, politics and government and social issues.

We do subscribe to the print edition of Consumer Reports (search catalog), one of the most popular features of our EBSCO databases, and keep back issues, both circulating and reference copies for your use.

We will keep offering digital audiobooks, eBooks, music and movies through OverDrive, CloudLibrary, Hoopla and Kanopy.

Finally, we will continue to offer an interlibrary loan service, so that you can borrow and receive materials, including magazine articles, from other libraries.

Please contact the information desk at (603) 624-6550 x7619, [email protected] or via chat if you need help conducting research, or have any questions or concerns.
