Join the Manchester City Library on September 21, 2023, from 7-8 pm via Zoom for the sixth and last installment of our Culturally Curious Art Series! This wildly popular art series, presented by Jane Oneail, is back for the second year with a fantastic array of topics including popular artists and local art.
Jackson Pollock is the famous originator of the drip and splatter paintings that came to epitomize Abstract Expressionism at the middle of the twentieth century. Pollock served as the de facto leader of the movement, a masculine cowboy representing “action painting.” Only in recent years has the art world turned its attention to the contributions of women artists working at the same time, including Lee Krasner, Jackson Pollock’s wife. This program explores the relationships of the artists, their work, and the enduring legacy in this revolutionary movement.
Jane Oneail curates and delivers art appreciation programs to audiences throughout New England and beyond. Jane holds a master’s in Art History from Boston University and a master’s in Education from Harvard University. A New Hampshire native, she has worked at some of the state’s most esteemed cultural institutions, including the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, where she served as Executive Director, and the Currier Museum of Art, where she held the role of Senior Educator. Jane has also taught at the college level for more than a decade, most recently at Southern New Hampshire University. For more information, visit iamculturallycurious.com.
