Faberge Imperial Easter Eggs: An Interactive and Beautifully Illustrated Presentation

March 16th, 2023 · No Comments · Art Room, Books, City Library, Events, Main Branch

On April 4th from 6pm to 7:30pm in the Manchester City Library will be hosting a “unique and beautifully illustrated presentation” on the famous Imperial Faberge Easter Eggs in the auditorium, presented by Marina Forbes. This program is sponsored by the New Hampshire Humanities.

This unique and beautifully illustrated presentation will focus on the life and remarkable work of master jeweler and artist, Peter Carl Fabergé. The program will feature a spectacular photo-tour of Fabergé collections at the world famous museums and private collectors around the world. Emphasis is on the important role of egg painting in Slavic culture and on the unique development of this major art form from a traditional craft to the level of exquisite fine art under the patronage of the tsars. The fascinating history of these eggs and their role in the dramatic events of the last decades of Romanov rule in Russia and in the years following the Bolshevik Revolution will also be discussed.

Marina’s presentations have been described as “sometimes a little bit funny, sometimes a little bit serious, but always unmistakably Russian.” Her in-depth knowledge and passion for the subject is evident in her lectures and questions from the audience are highly encouraged. In addition to being an art historian and giving lectures on the “traditional arts, history and the rich tapestry of Russian culture” she is also an award winning artist with twenty years of experience in her field.
