Historical Fiction!

April 10th, 2023 · No Comments · Book Recommendations, Books, City Library, Main Branch, West Branch

One of the best things about historical fiction is that no time, place, or genre is off limits. It highlights stories of people long forgotten by the mainstream and provides both authors and readers the freedom to explore the past in new ways. This months BookPage invites you to step back in time with new novels set in bygone eras.

Fans of romance may want to check out Diana Biller’s Hotel of Secrets or The Scandalous Ladies of London: The Countess, the first in a new series by Sophie Jordan. Readers that prefer books that are more dark and mysterious should check Victor Lavalle’s latest thriller Lone Women, about a black woman who moves to the Montana frontier to stake her claim as a homesteader with nothing but a single locked steamer trunk filled with family secrets. Even more mysteries await in Weyward by Emilia Hart and Homecoming by Kate Morton. Those interested in novels based on true stories also have plenty of options to choose from, including The Great Mrs. Elias, The Diamond Eye, and Take My Hand, all of which showcase the accomplishments and struggles of extraordinary women.

To learn more about these titles and the others featured in the newest issue of BookPage you can pick up a copy at the reference desk or visit their website. If you have any questions about BookPage or the books themselves, you can ask the reference staff for assistance.
