“Tell Them To Be Quiet and Wait”

May 12th, 2023 · No Comments · Author Talk, Books, City Library, Events, Main Branch

On Friday June 9th at 7pm author Caroline Cook will be joining the Manchester City Library via Zoom to talk about her debut novel “Tell Them To Be Quiet and Wait,” a fictionalized account of Dr. Croasdale the first female professor at Dartmouth College. This book tells the parallel stories of two women, Dr. Beverly Connor in 1935 and Lena Rivera in 2015, and the challenges they face while navigating the male dominated realm of academia. It’s a remarkable story of love, friendship, rejection, and acceptance that shows how much, and how little things have changed for women in higher education. Come listen to Cook talk about how she discovered this story, why it needed to be told, and her writing process.
