“Fishing is a way to be at peace with the world and oneself.” This quote is from an unknown source, but it rings true for National Go Fishing Day, which this year falls on June 18th, the same day as Father’s Day. Does your father like to go fishing? My dad does, especially deep sea fishing. There are three types of fishing: fresh water, saltwater, and fly fishing. In New Hampshire there are 57 fresh water fish species and 31 saltwater fish species. Moon phases support good catches, especially in deep sea fishing. Did you know that there are mental health benefits to fishing, including reduced stress levels, improved self-esteem, and social engagement? This June, stop by the library and take a look at the fishing display on the second floor. We have a wide selection books on not just fishing, but cookbooks on how to prepare your catch, and works of fiction with seafood titles as well. Hope to see you soon!
