Out of the Blue “Block” On Your Library Card

December 21st, 2010 · No Comments · Books, Children, City Library, Main Branch, Museum Passes, News, Technology, Teens, West Branch

Let’s say that you are using your library card to use an automated library function: download an audiobook / e-book, use the online databases, or to get on one of the library computers or another library activity using your card. You have no fines nor has your card expired, but there is a “Block” on your card preventing you from doing what you wanted to do. In some instances, this block can be the “Address Check” block which happens one year after you have renewed your library card or received your initial library card. This address check is done to ensure that we have the correct address for you.

If you receive a block notice, please contact the library and we will troubleshoot to see if it is an address check block or something else. If it is an address check block, all we need to do is verify information and then we can take the block off. The telephone number for the main branch is 603-624-6550 (extension 510 or 310). The telephone number for the West Branch is 603-624-6560.

Please be aware that when your library card expires you will need to come to the library in person in order to renew your card for another two years. When renewing your card you will be asked to provide a photo ID and proof or your residence. So if you get that sinister “block” on your library card just give us a jingle and we’ll be glad to sort things out for you!
