Library to Expand E-Book Collection

May 3rd, 2012 · No Comments · Books, City Library, E-Books, Main Branch, News, Technology, West Branch

Manchester City Library (MCL) has recently expanded its collection of e-books by joining the Overdrive Advantage Program (OAP). OAP allows MCL to purchase additional copies of popular e-books for the exclusive use of MCL patrons. This will have the effect of vastly reducing wait times for e-books that have holds on them.

Patrons will access the new titles through the downloadable books website,, and still have access to the entire downloadable books consortium collection. All of the circulation parameters are the same (i.e. two week check out, no renewals, no fines, and early returns are available).

When deciding what to purchase first, MCL has made books with long hold lists a top priority. Here is a slide show on how to place a hold on an ebook and identify books the library has purchased.

Here is our first order of OAP titles. The link will take you to the downloadable books catalog record for the title.
