HOW TO GET A LIBRARY CARD
Getting a card is now easier than ever for teens ages 12-17 who live or attend school in Manchester! You no longer need to have a parent or guardian with you to sign up for a card. When you come to the library, just make sure to have one of the following with you:
- Photo ID.
- Proof of school enrollment, such as a class schedule
- School ID
Bring this to the circulation desk at either Manchester library, fill out a short form, and we will issue you a card!
If you can’t provide any of the above items, you can still sign up for a card with a parent or guardian present. They will need to bring their photo ID, and proof of residence if their current address is not on the ID.
If you are under age 12, you will need a parent with you to sign up for a card. If you are 18 or older, you must meet the requirements of adult cardholders–a photo ID and proof of residence.
Teens who sign up for cards without a parent present are financially responsible for their own accounts. There are no fines for returning materials late (except when borrowing from other libraries–their fine structures may be different). However, items that are lost or damaged are subject to replacement costs. But if you take care of your items and return them on time, you won’t have any problems!
For additional information about registration policies and our fine structure, visit this page. As always, feel free to call or email with any questions.
If you aren’t already a member of the Manchester libraries, we hope to have you join us soon!
