The Manchester NAACP is hosting a public reading of Frederick Douglass’ “What to the Slave is your Fourth of July” speech on June 28th as part of the NH Black Heritage Trail’s annual reading event. The same event will be happening all across the state (https://blackheritagetrailnh.org/frederick-douglass-statewide-readings/).  We invite anyone from the community to read a portion of the speech. Join us on Saturday, June 28th at 12 pm on the Library Lawn. The Library Auditorium will be the venue in case of rain.

Please note that readings for this event will start at noon.  If you want to participate and read a portion of the speech, then please arrive by 11:00 AM to prepare for the reading.  Please contact James McKim, [email protected] for more information or how to participate.

The signup for readers can be found here: https://forms.gle/VUJuoyHSQsFVhLWp8
